kN0B0DY
Local surrealist painter JeanPaul Mallozzi will open his first solo show tonight in the Design District. “Moods and emotions have a color and vibration that manifests itself in the body. People can read emotion on a face and even more so in someone’s body language.” said Mallozzi. In kN0B0DY, he combines the two ideas of energy and posture in his work, but instead of rendering a face on his figures, he replaces it with gestural line work and color almost like how a child would draw a face. He renders the body carefully, because it acts like a keyhole into how a person is feeling from within. Mallozzi was born and raised in Queens NYC, and received a scholarship to attend the Rhode Island School Of Design. He graduated with a B.F.A in Illustration. His works have been shown in galleries in New York, Washington D.C., Miami, and London. He has been featured by Beautiful/Decay, 3×3 Magazine’s new talent gallery, and Vol.6 of Carpaccio’s Guide to emerging artists. Niagara
Marilyn stars in her first big role for Twentieth Century Fox, as Rose Loomis, honeymooning with her husband George (Joseph Cotton) in the popular honeymoon location, Niagara Falls. So popular, in fact, that another couple checks into their room, and they find themselves soon entangled in more than that mess. In typical film noir fashion, (besides the not-typical-for-noir Technicolor) betrayal leads to much more, and a master plan goes astray and gets complicated. Thanks to the magnificent backdrop, engaging performances, and technically sharp directing by Henry Hathaway, Niagara is glorious and visually spectacular, kind of like the falls of the title, and the star. 8pm.
