Letters: Why Did Asst. City Manager Not Look Further into Noise Complaints From Beach Residents

[ 5 ] June 7, 2012 | SunPost

To the Editor,

In response to the May 31 Letter to the Editor from Hilda Fernandez, Assistant City Manager, Miami Beach:

Ms. Fernandez reacted angrily to my disclosing that indicted Code Compliance supervisor Jose Alberto had whispered to me “She’s lying” while she was making a presentation on noise complaints to city commissioners. Her defense to providing bogus data to commissioners and to the public is that Alberto fed her the phony numbers: “[They] were numbers provided to me and the manager’s office by, or under the guidance of, Mr. Alberto”.

For years, residents and commissioners repeatedly asked Ms. Fernandez to probe into why more than 80% of residents’ noise complaints had been deemed “INVALID” by inspectors in the office over which she was responsible. Now, she claims she never probed, but simply accepted “numbers” that were given her. This raises very serious questions about why she didn’t probe further.

Are you kidding me???? This lady is a joke. Wasnt Jose Alberto lead administrator NOT the Director of Code Compliance? Why dont they look at the Director Robert Santos, Director of Code Comp.? Isnt he the one overseeing everyone including Jose Alberto? I mean, we all have bosses who overlook our work, right? Im not defending anyone, but lets think logically now. Why is she leaving her position along with her other coworkers such as Mr. Gonzalez? Its okay for them to accept donations and gifts, and attend events, hotels, etc for free? they have done a poor job and are corrupt too, the whole city is corrupt. Favor gor favor is their motto/mission.. They are sneaky snakes and they are the ones who “con” everyone with their political smack…but you cant fool me.

  2. Justice says:

    Thank god she’s out!

Fernandez was second in command in a corrupt City of Miami Beach.

She’s trying to pass the buck and pin the entire blame on Alberto but that ain’t the way it works in America. If ur boss, the buck stops w/u!

Clean up yr act lady Fernandez!

    peace on earth!

Great letter by Leo O…….now maybe she will be next to get the boot……..a clean house is soooooo needed………

  4. Pearl Lee Attias says:

If she has the authority to do something about an issue that is affecting numerous residents on the beach and chooses not to act on it, maybe she shouldn’t be in such a high position as Assistant City Manager.

  5. Kristin says:

    I will not miss her!

Hilda Fernandez was the woman in charge of all the affairs in our city of Miami Beach. All the departments were under her control and she failed us! Corruption right under her nose and she didn’t do anything to avoid or even stop it!
