Art Basel: The Art of Night
Miami Photographer Seth Browarnik Exhibits Glitterati Snaps of Fame and Fashion in Forty Five Frames
Visionary nightlife photographer, Seth Browarnik, will exhibit his work for the first time during Art Basel Miami Beach with a five daylong display at the newly renovated Shelborne Hotel. Having launched his career in Miami Beach over a decade ago, Browarnik’s artistic point of view has been unequivocally shaped by the city’s sultry spirit. Browarnik, who has since covered nightlife all over the world, is famous for always seeking out that which is sexy and wild in his subjects – a process that he calls “looking for the Miami energy” in his photos. Now, in the city that first inspired him, Browarnik will unveil a series of never-before-seen portraits and candids of the glitterati from the inside. Curated by Rachel K. Ward, Browarnik’s Art of Night collection captures the last fifteen years of fame and fashion in forty-five frames.
Karl Lagerfeld, Yoko Ono, Jay Z, Dennis Hopper, Daphne Guinness and Michael Jackson are just a few of the icons on display in Art of Night. The collection shows a slice of celebrity life that often goes unseen while also portraying the passage of time and the evolution of pop culture. The photos expose moments of debauchery, of excess, of frantic backstage preparation, of pure unadulterated elation, of undeniable adoration. At Art of Night guests can get a glimpse at it all, and walk away with a piece of it.
“Art of Night is a look at the world through my eyes over the last decade– it’s a momentary peek behind the velvet rope. All of these photos capture people and places at their best, and they all tell the story of a moment,” says Browarnik. “In its 10th year, Art Basel Miami Beach is a celebration of art, fashion, revelry and glamour – it felt like the right time to finally reflect on some of these moments and celebrate them once again.
Seth Browarnik, founder of World Red Eye Productions and WorldRedEye.com based in Miami Beach, is commissioned all across the globe to shoot parties, galas, fashion shows, festivals and any occasion in between. Having shot thousands of events and subjects, Browarnik’s skills are coveted. Equal parts spry and speedy, he possesses an uncanny ability to predict the night’s direction and position himself perfectly to capture the most special and fleeting of moments. Browarnik has befriended the majority of his subjects, earning their respect and their comfort almost instantly. In allowing his subjects to let down their guards, Browarnik has captured some of the most revealing and enchanting images in pop culture today. Collectors will have the opportunity to purchase any of the forty-five prints, which range from 1-6 feet in length.
TO GO: The Art of Night will be on exhibit through December 4 at the Shelborne South Beach Resort, 1801 Collins Ave; Miami Beach.
