Art: A Watery Oasis on the Edge of the Design District
Edge has several definitions in the dictionary. Seventeen in my dictionary including explanations such as: an improved position: advantage, impatient: eager, to put on the edge or to sharpen: on the brink…etc.
My e-vite read: SPACE 4004, A Showroom, Gallery, Photography, Film Screening and Event Location, invite you to an ideally suited space for art. {Them’s tough words} so we decided to investigate. This immense gallery is located on the edge of the Design District in Miami. Walk through the non-pretentious small front doors and be prepared to discover an oasis of prolific works created by a man of many names. Artist William Philip Ross Munro’s passion for all things edgy and artistic are omni-present in this 4000 sq. ft. (plus garden space) area, where watery themed artworks and mixed-media crafts are constantly evolving.
Munro graduated from L’Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, France. His foundations are in traditional painting techniques, but somewhere along his career he decided to see what the watery side of photography was like and has since, produced many sublime works that focus on the element of life…water. In his turquoise, dangerous environment, humans swim and drift. Enveloped with a sense of tranquility and fine flowing colorful fabrics, his subjects dive and swirl and penetrate through the surface into a daring and unfamiliar world. Munro brings out the sensual and provocative side of the deep and dares to show human simplicity and seductiveness in a primal environment.
His works figure in various international art collections, but you can get a firsthand look at his latest photographs and paintings by calling 786.271.2787 or visit philprossmunro.com.
