Style: Summer Swim
Look fabulous this swim season with the very latest in runway swimsuits. The look is all about bikinis and cutout one-piece which dominate the swim 2011 look. Gold, hot pink, turquoise, gunmetal, seafoam, emerald green, taupe, yellow, burnt orange, and vintage white are the hot colors.
Some stand-out trends are the Bandeau top with a fabulous detail in the center. Gold hardware is used as embellishments like shells and starfish. Custom mix and match prints with stripes, flowers, dots and a tribal mix.
Designers to wear this summer are Mara Hoffman, (she pulled color and pattern from the Ndebele tribe in South Africa and Zimbabwe), Miami-based Red Carter whose pop art suits are beautiful and Miami’s own Luli Fama whose collection is a color-filled homage to Miami where she is based. We also love the animal prints from Cia Maritima, the feminine lace details from Beach Bunny and Jean Paul Gaultier and the embroidered, ethnic tunics from Ondademar.
But the stand-out designer this season is Columbian design duo, Agua Bendita, a newcomer to the American market. The classical and traditional bikinis and one-piece suits are impossible to ignore thanks to the Colombian handicrafts, handmade embroidery, crochet detail, mix-and-match prints and vibrant color.
