Miamism: Miami Historic Architecture

[ 0 ] February 10, 2011 | Ines Hegedus-Garcia

There are many historic neighborhoods around Miami, but did you know about The Buena Vista East Historic District just North of The Design District?  The historic name of this area was The Biltmore and Shadowland and was developed in the 20′s to provide homes for the influx of “cracker” migrants who came to Miami from Georgia and The Carolinas.  You can see Mediterranean Revival, Pueblo, Mission, Bungalow, Art Deco and vernacular style homes.  It remains a secret haven for many who have painstakingly restored a lot of these homes – the photo above being one of them.  And yes, it’s a photo with “MobileMonet” filter.
